Area Quality Manager

We are looking for a Area Quality Manager for our Rock Hill Automotive facility. The Area Quality Manager, AuT is responsible for all U.S. Automotive Quality Systems and processes for Oerlikon AuT and designated Tools/Component locations. These activities shall include customer interface, strategic planning, QMS oversight (including auditing responsibility), management of key indicators, and responsibility to lead quality personnel that support the daily quality functions. In addition, this role will be responsible to drive continuous improvement philosophies using the Oerlikon Process Excellence strategy. Interface and adherence to global automotive processes and standards is required via regular collaboration with the Global Automotive Quality Expert and global automotive team. The Area Quality Manager has the authority as Quality Management Representative for the various Quality Management System Certifications.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Participate in strategy development, target development, and manage KPI's
  • Evaluation of customer specific requirements and associated customer alignment
  • Implementation and monitoring of requirements from ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
  • Provide continuous improvement leadership to OB employees
  • Lead problem solving efforts to resolve customer issues
  • Guide Quality Engineers/Coordinators in the proper use of quality problem solving tools
  • Raise awareness of quality requirements among the workforce
  • Prepare and present the Annual Management Review and monthly quality reports
  • Monitor and Review Quality Circle activity and guide continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee the proper implementation of policies, procedures, and work instructions including supervision of effective review of contingency plans
  • Conduct internal and Second Party audits. Oversee external and customer audit activities
  • Facilitate and develop training for OB Quality Management delivery systems
  • Support Global Initiatives related to Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Interact with all Process Stakeholders to resolve process related issues affecting Quality
  • Provide Customer Support (teams, complaint management, problem resolution, etc.) including fulfilling customer specifications and PPAP requirements
  • Manage quality laboratory including ensuring the implementation of measurement equipment capability tests and statistical process analysis
  • Support of the supply chain team regarding supplier quality
  • Create and manage quality documentation (f.e. process flow, control plan, P-FMEA, etc.)
  • measurement equipment, complaint management and capability


Your Profile:

  • Four year degree in technical/business field, Quality Management preferred.
  • 3-5 Years in Quality Related Roles, management preferred
  • Working knowledge of quality standards (IATF) including knowledge of automotive quality core tools/IATF audit competencies
  • Working knowledge in the automotive documentation process of Prototype to PPAP (Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, Gage R&R, etc)
  • Quality Management Principles
  • Able to effectively lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts
  • Basic Statistical Principles
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical Competence
  • APQP methodology (hands-on: data collection, analysis, reporting)
  • Strategic, systematic thinker
  • Well organized
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Execution of decision making authority to manage customer product internally and externally
  • US and International Travel required, up to 40% of time
