Doctor of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medicine.

Position Summary

Provision of age appropriate gynecologic care to eligible members of the University Community at the University of Georgia Health Center. The Health Center is a large multi-specialty ambulatory care organization that is accredited by the Joint Commission with primary care medical home designation. All licensed clinicians at the University Health Center are members of our Medical Staff whose role is to ensure that care is evidence based and of the highest quality. The membership serves as exemplars of our student-centered service excellence culture.

Staff Physicians are a critical component of the clinical leadership who provide oversight of care provided by Physician Assistants and Nurse practitioners.

Additional Requirements

UHC Minimum:
  • Maintenance of board certification in an appropriate specialty such as American Board of Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Current BLS Certification or attainment within 180 days of start.
  • Current DEA.


Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

UHC Preferred:
  • Expertise in College Health is preferred.
  • Greater than three years of active gynecology care practice.
  • Familiarity with an electronic medical record, particularly with Point and Click Solutions' OpenSuite EHR.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 and other software to include Word, Adobe, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with Joint Commission accreditation.
  • Expertise in adolescent gynecology preferred.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Clinical knowledge base that is gynecology focused.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based principles to clinical practice.
  • Minor procedural skills; competency contraception provision, including Nexplanon placement/removal, IUD placement/removal.
  • Procedures to include colposcopy with biopsy, cryotherapy, LEEP, EMB, vulvar biopsy; I&D vulvar abscesses, including placement word catheter.
  • Comfort with behavioral health.
  • Communication skills, empathy, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, acceptance and cultural competency.

Patient Direct and Support Services
  • Provide age-appropriate gynecological care, performing annual assessments, procedures (e.g. colposcopy, I&D, LARC insertion/removal).
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, coordinate care and referrals.
  • Document encounters in a concise timely detailed and informative manner using an electronic medical record.
  • Serve in a consultative and clinical supervisory role for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants active in the clinics.
  • Co-sign (assess care and decision making, ensure adequate documentation, and offer feedback where appropriate) entries in medical records by NP/PA staff.
