Reporting to the Purchasing Materials Manager, The Senior Buyer Planner will support the planning and scheduling of work orders and purchase orders for their assigned responsibilities using ERP and in support of the monthly SIOP process. The Sr. Buyer will participate in the daily Tier meetings in support of daily production activities and support internal customers as required.

Reporting to the Purchasing Materials Manager, The Senior Buyer Planner will support the planning and scheduling of work orders and purchase orders for their assigned responsibilities using ERP and in support of the monthly SIOP process. The Sr. Buyer will participate in the daily Tier meetings in support of daily production activities and support internal customers as required.
Responsibilities
Typical activities include:
- Plan and Schedule work orders for assigned production lines in accordance with MRP and monthly SIOP process.
- Collaborate with Master Planner to ensure work order supply supports master plan and monthly SIOP process for assigned areas.
- Works cross functionally with manufacturing to resolve material availability or scheduling challenges.
- Using MRP to plan and purchase raw materials, for assigned production areas and corresponding suppliers, in accordance with MRP demand.
- Improve material availability, Control purchase price variances, while improving supplier quality, and on time delivery performance
- Supports periodic reviews of inventory safety stock levels and the updating of corresponding ERP data in support of days on hand inventory goals.
- Lead or support negotiations on assigned supplier contracts
- Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to review and update raw material and finished good safety stock levels to optimize material availability to support production plans, while attaining inventory days on hand (DOH) goals.
- Ensure the accuracy of ERP Master Data and ASL for assigned purchased and manufactured items
- Monitor key market conditions that will influence the availability and cost of key purchases to ensure proactive steps are taken to respond to any adverse movements
- Participate in quarterly business reviews (QBR) with strategic suppliers.
- Work closely with manufacturing management and quality to develop supplier relationships to support production schedules.
- Support research and engineering teams to identify, qualify and implement lower cost supplies from existing sources as well as new sources of supply.
- Maintain performance to monthly purchasing key performance indicators (KPI)
Work Experience, Education and Skills required:
- A 4-year bachelor's degree is preferred, or 6-10 years of experience in a planning / purchasing supply chain function.
- Excellent understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Competency in Microsoft Office business suite software: word, excel, outlook, and ability to learn new business applications, and use of database management systems.
- Strong business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility.
- Proven leadership skills including team building and conflict resolution and management.
- APICS certification a plus or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to see and respond to at-risk situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear when in industrial locations.
- Must be able sit for longer periods of time as well as move about throughout the office and production, / laboratory environment.
