We're looking for a Senior Building Mechanical Designer to join our Building Mechanical Team. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 8 years in mechanical design and drafting for building services, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, Sanitary and fire protection and BAS systems.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Mechanical System Design: Create detailed 2D & 3D models of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, Sanitary &Storm, fire protection, and Controls Schematics, using designing & drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP). Ensure accuracy, clash detection, and coordination with other building components.
  • System Integration and Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly within the overall building design. Coordinate with the design team to resolve clashes, conflicts, and design inconsistencies.
  • Design Optimization and Analysis: Analyze and optimize mechanical system designs for efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Identify potential conflicts or performance issues and propose design modifications or alternative solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and review technical drawings and schedules for mechanical systems. Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural and electrical engineers. Participate in design coordination meetings, provide input, and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks and reviews of mechanical models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project goals and standards. Address design deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging building services design and modelling technologies. Explore and implement innovative modelling techniques and tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in mechanical design and drafting for building services, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, Sanitary and fire protection systems.
  • Proficient in using design and drafting software, such as AutoCAD and Revit MEP
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, OBC) related to mechanical building systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing design and modelling projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Diploma of Collegial Studies in a relevant discipline or any other training deemed equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information and work well within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex design challenges and propose innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable design practices in mechanical systems is highly desirable.
