RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads in protecting company assets. Promotes teamwork within the Accounting department by focusing on collective success and the personal development of the individuals within the department. Assures the financial statements are free from material misstatement on a monthly basis and oversees all functions related to recording/reconciling all underlying financial data. Supports jobsites and other departments as needed. Advances continuous improvement efforts within Accounting as well as across the organization. Demonstrates The Caddell Way on a daily basis.
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department. This includes resolving personnel issues, reassigning staff and workflow as needed, responding to ad hoc requests for data, reports, etc. Responsible for production of monthly financial statements and distribution to designated recipients based on a pre-defined reporting schedule. Manages annual audit. Assures the preparation of the required work papers for external auditors and tax preparers are accurate, transparent and logical. Oversees and/or prepares analysis of general ledger accounts, joint venture billings and intercompany transactions. Acts as liaison between Accounting and all other departments regarding accounting issues. Evaluates Accounting staff for performance and development. Recognizes achievements timely and with appropriate measure. Teaches on failures in a timely manner and with appropriate measure. Performs all other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: BS in accounting (MBA preferred) and 10 years' experience with construction accounting required. Tax experience preferred. At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory role of multiple employees.
Certifications, Licenses, etc.: CPA preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to handle conflicting tasks in a high-volume environment. Communicate effectively with diverse/multinational individuals. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel as well as Adobe Acrobat, experience in accounting software preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and manage employees. Understanding of general accounting principles and how they apply to the construction industry. Understanding of percent completion accounting principle and how this affects company financials. Demonstrated ability to critically analyze accounts and recognize problem areas and identify steps for resolving these issues. Ability to motive others. Ability to plan and allocate resources. The ability to see the big picture and understand the ramifications of changes on the organization.
