What you will do:

The Senior Accounting Manager is a key team member within Baker Tilly's CAS Real Estate outsourced real estate property accounting practice. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the sales process of meeting with potential clients to listen to their needs and articulate Baker Tilly's service offerings
  • Lead the scoping and pricing exercise for Principal review
  • Serve as a utility player during the onboarding process of new clients and continue as relationship manager thereafter
  • Lead and plan client engagements. Provide recommendations for reporting and budgeting process improvements based upon knowledge gained relative to the client's operations, processes, and business objectives.
  • Effectively delegate and oversee the work efforts by setting goals, providing resources, and removing obstacles.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to clients at all times, with an emphasis on being responsive, timely, professional, and accurate.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and procedures within the client services and implementation functions with emphasis on implementing efficiencies and identification of internal control issues.
  • Act as liaison to address and resolve client issues, and assist team leaders in researching and providing additional services to client.
  • Proactively research technical accounting and reporting matters and stay abreast of pending changes in relevant technical guidance
  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients and the community.
  • Assist with the hiring, training and counseling of team members, and with developing performance measures that support the team's strategic direction. Assist in developing and maintaining a culture of teamwork, client service and effective problem solving.
  • Comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, independent study, etc. and integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Invest in your professional development individually and through participation in firm wide learning and development programs
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and activities where necessary and/or appropriate to foster growth and best practices of the business unit

Additionally, you will support and enhance the internal business unit and firm operations by acquiring knowledge identifying opportunities for improvement and enthusiastically participating in internal projects and operations; as well as complying with all firm standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA or MSA/MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years commercial real estate accounting experience. Exposure to property-level, development/construction and ownership accounting is required
  • Public accounting experience with a top 10 firm strongly preferred
  • Exposure to office properties as well as hospitality properties desired
  • Knowledge of private fund, GAAP and tax accounting
  • Proficient with MS Office software
  • Deep experience in Yardi is required. Job Cost module experience highly preferred. Exposure to MRI also a plus
  • Critical thinking ability and a track record of solving problems and driving projects to completion
  • Ability to communicate succinctly and anticipate and resolve issues/problems on a proactive basis
  • Aptitude to be detail-oriented, yet flexible, in a dynamic environment with a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Excellent collaborative skills to work in partnership with colleagues and across various departments
  • Strong work ethic with the highest degree of honesty, integrity and discretion

The compensation range for this role is $116,480 to $252,370. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location
