Reporting to the Managing Director, the Principal will play a leadership role in making and managing Private Equity investments. As a key member of the team, the Principal will use their deep expertise to determine attractiveness of investment opportunities and to manage an existing portfolio of assets. The successful candidate will lead the analysis of investments, including conducting industry and company due diligence, creating sophisticated financial models, assisting in negotiating legal documents, preparing recommendations for Investment Committee decisions, among other transaction-related duties and portfolio management. The Principal will also have responsibility for managing relationships and monitoring investments.

As a Member of Our Team, Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Playing a leadership role in the analysis and evaluation of new investment opportunities (direct investments, co-investments, and fund commitments).
  • Providing oversight and guidance to other members of the team, while also working independently, as needed.
  • Liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders and advisors in a lead role.
  • Maintaining a strong and up-to-date understanding of the private equity market environment and eco-system.
  • Making investment recommendations based on results of the team's due diligence findings and analysis and confidently presenting these findings to the investment committee.
  • Executing and monitoring private equity investments:
    • Oversee and contribute to the development of investment memorandums, financial models, other reports.
    • Play a critical role in the negotiation and execution of agreements and other transaction-related documents.
    • Oversee multiple due diligence work streams.
    • Co-ordinate with internal stakeholders and core services groups, external stakeholders (GPs) and advisors.
    • Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of portfolio investments.
  • Build and leverage relationships with GPs, management teams and advisors/capital providers to gather market intelligence and execute on new investment opportunities.

What do you need to succeed:
  • University degree in Business or a related discipline, CFA designation, MBA, LLB or similar preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in investment management with a minimum 4-5 years' experience in direct Private Equity market (or similar), with significant transaction experience, including experience in leading the investment process, conducting due diligence, arranging debt financing and negotiating documentation as well as monitoring of investments.
  • Experience in negotiating and leading deals (e.g., process, legal documentation, relationships, teams, etc.).
  • Proven track record of successful investment decisions.
  • Significant relationship management experience including primary responsibility for managing relationships with portfolio companies and other external stakeholders (investment partners such as General Partner and other co-investors and advisors such as financial, legal, etc.).
  • Superior interpersonal skills; solid, demonstrated communication skills (oral and written) as well as exceptional presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and apprenticing junior colleagues.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and creativity.
  • Professionalism and integrity.
