Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The HVAC Designer is responsible for the layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. The individual must stay current on codes, industry practices, and state-of-the-art technologies. Responsibilities include preparing calculations for equipment and duct sizing, conducting equipment research, selecting mechanical equipment, and completing final working drawings using CAD, Revit, or manual drafting. The role also involves working with field personnel to resolve installation problems, supporting Project Managers and experienced Engineers, and creating and modifying current standards with input from the Engineering staff. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare calculations for equipment and duct sizing
  • Conduct equipment research
  • Select mechanical equipment
  • Complete final working drawings using CAD, Revit, or manual drafting
  • Work with field personnel to resolve installation problems
  • Support Project Managers and experienced Engineers
  • Create and modify current standards with input from Engineering staff
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of HVAC design experience
  • Strong knowledge of common HVAC, piping, and hydronic systems
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, and mechanical plans
  • Familiarity with a variety of HVAC systems and terminology
  • Practicing knowledge of mechanical, piping, building, fire, and energy codes
  • Strong organization and analytical skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, technicians, sales, office, and field personnel
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion, and interpersonal skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in HVAC, AutoCAD, layout drawings, Revit, design, mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering, building systems, plumbing design, and mechanical design
  • Experience with construction documents and sheet metal
Work Environment

The work environment includes an office setting with a team atmosphere, working closely with the Engineering team and a CAD department. The office is located in the NW Portland Pearl District, offering convenient access to restaurants, breweries, shops, gyms, and workout facilities. The position allows for a hybrid schedule with 1 day of work from home and 4 days in the office. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/hr.
