Principal Scientist Colors - Erlanger, KY

Position Summary:
The individual holding this position is expected to have a high working level of knowledge around Color Science in Food and Beverage applications, specifically with Colors Exempt from Certification (commonly known as Natural Colors), common knowledge of raw materials and ingredients used to create ADM's Colors From Nature, formulation trouble-shooting, basic knowledge of the regulatory landscape and an understanding of general stability protocol for the color and finished products.
The areas of expertise need to include:
  • Product Development
  • Broad Color Portfolio
  • Liquids and Liquid Blends
  • Dispersions
  • Powders and Powder Blends
  • Extracts and Juice Concentrates
  • Applications across Food and Beverage (Pet Food a plus)
  • Commercialization from Bench-Tope to Production-Scale
  • Prior experience with Color Development is required.
  • The successful candidate will have strong presentation skills and the ability to rapidly develop a relationship with internal and external customers. (Position will require some travel to customers.)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for developing color formulations suitable for food & beverage applications (pet food application a plus)
  • Collaboration and cooperation with other employees, including acting as a mentor to other color scientists
  • Responsible for leading complex and cross-functional projects
  • Accountable for designing and running experiments
  • Partner with Operations and QC to successfully scaleup newly created solutions
  • Act as liaison with Procurement and Strategic Sourcing to identify required raw materials to create customized solutions

Requirements:
  • BS/MS (Science) with 15+ yrs' color science experience;
  • PhD with 10+ yrs' color science experience

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
