Application Services Manager

Summary:

IPG Photonics is the world leader in high power fiber lasers and laser processing equipment. This position is a hands-on management position working with state-of-the-art laser systems and is focused on the development of Laser Application Services for current and new IPG laser system customers.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

- Management of Application Services group activities and personnel

- Drive Revenues and Profitability of the Application Services Business

- Develop Strategic and Tactical Plans for the business

- Develop marketing and sales materials

- Build, develop and manage Applications Services Team commensurate with revenue growth

- Manage proposal process

- Work closely with the service team

- Daily contact with IPG customers

- Consulting services for current and new potential customers

- Evaluation and quoting of customer requests for laser application services and consulting

- Application services at factory and/or customer site, including:

- Development of laser processes per specifications

- Development of laser system machine programs per specifications

- Development of machine vision programs per specifications

- Equipment setup, characterization and documentation of laser processing results

- Equipment and laser processing training

- Development of customer training programs

- Coordination of activities with other IPG groups

- Analysis and reporting of activities to Senior Management

- Position requires frequent travelling to customer locations, trade shows and IPG facilities

Qualifications:

- Masters or BS Engineering degree

- +5 years of experience in laser materials processing, in particular laser welding

- Strong knowledge with setup, programming and running of CNC and Robotic laser systems

- Strong knowledge of materials characterization techniques

- Strong software skills

- Strong knowledge of machine vision tools

- Strong experience with Medical Device industry preferred

- Strong professional communications, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
