Job Summary: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the planning and successful completion of client projects. Additional responsibilities include responding to requests for proposals, serving as a liaison between the client and project team, and providing feedback on the performance of assigned team members.
Key performance objectives in order of priority with ideal time allocation are:
1. Leading project delivery to achieve targets for profitability and repeat business via satisfied and enthused customers.

In this role, you will:

- Serves as Salas O'Brien liaison to the client and is the first point of contact for addressing all project-related questions, interpreting contract documents, clarifying and resolving project design issues, changes in scope of work, quality concerns or project delays.
- Completes performance evaluations on project team members and assists with identifying professional development opportunities and succession
planning including career planning, mentoring, and developing the next generation of leaders.
- Fosters an environment that encourages and rewards excellence, teamwork, personal accountability, and productivity.
- Responsible for assigned account management plans by maintaining regular contact with clients and proactively seeking referrals for new business opportunities.
Skills/abilities:
- Good interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and various managers in a fast-paced environment.
- Coordinates Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and assists with establishing a program for potential projects that meet the client's needs.
- Reviewing the client's RFP with the Department Manager or Discipline Lead, interpreting the scope of work, and providing an initial Project Execution Plan.
- Developing the design budget by gathering discipline and outside consultant estimates, if necessary, and determining other project expenses.
- Developing the project schedule with input from the team and Director of Operations.
- Lead an Associate Project Manager to monitoring project progress, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring that all project milestones are successfully met.
- Creating a first draft of the client's proposal for review by the Account Manager and project team to ensure the proposal meets the client's needs.
- Participating in client presentations and closing the opportunity.
- Receives all incoming project information and distributes to the team and outside consultants; works with Department Managers to determine resource requirements and facilitates schedule coordination with all disciplines.
- Leads project meetings with discipline leads; ensures all information discussed with the client has been accurately documented and communicated to the appropriate parties.
- Ensures all communication originated from team members with the client's representatives, contractors, and outside consultants is properly. documented, communicated to the client, and kept in a central project file.
- Monitors engineering and construction and capital budgets as required and holds project team accountable for schedule progress, package delivery dates and successfully meeting project milestones.
- Tracks weekly progress of project percentage completion to budget, controls progress to keep project within budget and provides team members, the Plus Group Management and accounting with updated status reports.
- Communicates plan and schedule changes, alternate work assignments, changes orders and scope revisions to the project team and client.
- Ensures all Quality Assurance and Control Procedures are implemented and followed by the project team; monitors outcomes and takes corrective action, as required.
- Reviews and approves customer invoices. Follows up and resolves disputed charges or late payment issues.
- Determines approval of change order requests, reviews construction documents, original contracts, and the basis for the change order.
- Evaluates engineering and construction change order requests against construction documents, original contracts, and supplemental agreements.
- Represents Salas O'Brien in contract interpretation, negotiates additional fees and prepares required documents to communicate and confirm changes with all parties.
- Approves overtime in coordination with Salas O'Brien Management for work associated with specific project needs.
- Maintains administrative control over terms of terms of agreement, changes in agreement scope, billing process, settlement, and project safety.
- Develops proposal pricing strategy early in the proposal process with company Presidents.
- Follows the Salas O'Brien Proposal Flow Process.
Education/Experience:
- Four-year degree in Engineering or related field and/or 10 or more years' experience in the field of engineering which includes, but is not limited to, leadership in the Chemicals, Consumer Goods, Food & Beverage, or Pharmaceutical industries preferred.
- Eight plus years' experience in a Project Management Role
- Experience working in a team environment of a multi-discipline engineering firm is preferred, but not required.
Software:
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
- Intermediate to Advanced skills with Microsoft Project.
Working Hours/Environment:
- Hour's average 40 per week; may require additional hours including evening and weekends depending on business needs.
- Work typical performed in an indoor office setting/client site.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Light Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.
- Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around an office environment.
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate responses.
