As a Principal Software Engineer in the Bing Search by Business team, you will be responsible for advancing the search serving architecture across Bing and designing the next-generation search platform. This role provides an opportunity to enhance your skills in complex distributed systems, learn to effectively apply AI to benefit users, and gain knowledge of state-of-the-art search systems. In this position, you have the option to work remotely up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities:
- Unification of search runtime architecture across different teams.
- Design of how the search architecture would look like in future.
- Design and implementation of customization for existing runtime architecture.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in software engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience with large-scale search stack infrastructure, including retrieval and ranking.
- 2+ years experience with recent search technologies including LLM/SLM and deep learning models.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- 2+ years experience modernizing complex engineering systems.
- Exceptional communication abilities, with a demonstrated history of effectively conveying complex engineering issues and solutions to a target audience, often consisting of partners.
- Knowledge of Bing runtime stack.
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Experience with data science as it relates to training and evaluating AI models.
