As Associate Vice President, you'll develop communication strategies for our most senior level leaders in one or more of the businesses or functional areas of a Fortune 100 protection company. You'll lead a team that implements sophisticated communication programs and works with senior management to help drive achievement of strategic goals and objectives; as well as driving efforts to engage associates and key internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Marketing Vice President. Manages a team of four or more communications professionals.
Typical Skills and Experience:
Education: Undergraduate studies in communications, journalism, advertising or related field; master's degree preferred.
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years of proven experience in a communication field, including developing and running focused and meaningful corporate communications programs.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: High-level knowledge in communications techniques, strategies, print, audio-visual, and web production processes as well as layout and design rules and concepts. Proven knowledge in advertising, public relations, organization dynamics and sales/marketing communication concepts is preferred. Ability to articulate a vision and drive the team to successful and measurable results as well as to interact, influence and build positive relationships with top-level executives. Ability to analyze business strategies, develop communications plans and programs to meet client needs. Skilled in preparing and presenting verbal presentations and demonstrations translating complex policy and technical concepts to all types audiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to consult.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended work hours may be necessary during periods of heavier volume of work. May be required to travel to field locations to provide media/communications support.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the strategic planning, development and implementation of integrated corporate communication function focusing on thought leadership, executive visibility, corporate storytelling, public relations, and media initiatives.
- Responsible for ongoing strategic executive communications for key staff area C-suite executives, including associate communications, presentations/speaking engagements, media opportunities, executive social media strategies and more.
- Oversees the planning, preparation, and dissemination of information through in-house publications, marketing materials, audio-visual presentations and internet/intranet sites. Owns the evaluation on impact and effectiveness of the materials and programs and provides recommendations to senior level leaders on new/revised communications practices, programs, and strategies.
- Develops inclusive messaging that resonates across broad audiences.
- Leads the creation of PR-led campaigns and partners with marketing and social media peers on ecosystem campaigns.
- Leads the company's preparations for and response to crises.
- Oversees team responsible for the design, development, production, distribution and measurement of communications projects to ensure marketing, sales and/or business goals are achieved.
- Develops and oversees cost savings through effective budget management procedures.
- Leads team responsible for monitoring and assessing project development, establishing quality standards, implementing procedural changes and evaluating customer response/satisfaction.
- May handle various catastrophic response (CAT) duties as a representative of Corporate Communications. Duties may be onsite or in a designated office location.
- Responsible for the management of associates including: associate development, setting goals and performance management, salary planning and administration, departmental budget, training and development, workflow and organizational planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.
