The Senior Accountant is a growth-oriented position with responsibilities for managing the month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes related to retail store operations. This role ensures the accuracy of sales, inventory, COGS, and store level expenses, working closely with operations, finance, and business partners. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in multi-unit retail or restaurant environments. Also, a solid grasp of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), an eye for process improvement, and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment with ongoing growth.
This position is also responsible for fulfilling external reporting requirements of government agencies and business partners, for preparing audit schedules and working closely with auditors.
The Senior Accountant must have a strong sense of ownership, the ability to set priorities, possess excellent organizational skills, and strong attention to detail. Additionally, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure while managing strict deadlines are required. This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager, Retail Division.

- Oversee and execute monthly and annual financial closings and reporting.
- Prepare and submit journal entries for review.
- Analyze financial results, identifying deviations and providing detailed reports.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations for all accounting cycles (e.g., bank, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals), ensuring complete, accurate support and thorough analysis of account balances.
- Oversee the bank reconciliation process and ensure accurate cash journal entries.
- Own the company's store lease obligations and related activities.
- Collaborate with retail vendors to research and resolve billing issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for accounting inquiries related to store operations and financial data.
- Conduct research on sales item taxability.
- Support the Senior Manager with special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports or schedules as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
- Identify and implement Best Practices across all areas of responsibility.
