Established in 1944, Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley (BGCSV) is dedicated to uplifting the lives of underprivileged Santa Clara County youth ages 4-18-and beyond. In addition to being a haven that fosters positive relationships and belonging, we collaborate closely with school officials to offer a diverse range of afterschool and summer enrichment programs, serving 7,000 members across 40 clubhouse locations spanning San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister, and Contra Costa County. We aim to bridge the gap for low-income youth and amplify pathways to success within historically underserved communities by fostering scholastic achievement. As an autonomous 501(c)(3) entity affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, BGCSV operates under the stewardship of a local Board of Directors. This dedicated team oversees our programs and funding, ensuring our continued impact on the lives of Silicon Valley Youth.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Teens & Post-Secondary Success will manage the daily operations of all teen programs and initiatives, overseeing a dedicated team committed to ensuring teens and young adults have the skills they need to succeed in school, a career, and life. The Vice President of Teens & Post-Secondary Success will lead the implementation of needs- and interest-based programs and initiatives that help teens and young adults link academic, personal, and professional goals to ensure persistence to graduation and successful transition through college, a technical development program, or entry into the workforce.

Responsibilities

Leadership Excellence
  • Set a clear vision and strategic direction for all teen programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of professionals dedicated to teens and their post-secondary success.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve program goals and outcomes.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Empower staff to innovate and excel in their roles.
  • Lead by example, providing staff mentorship, coaching, support, and professional development opportunities, ensuring they are prepared to execute the highest quality instruction and advising.
  • Take a proactive approach to leadership, ensuring programs are impactful, sustainable, and continuously improving.
  • Address the evolving needs of teens and young adults.
  • Lead teen-specific program events.

Youth Development, College and Career Readiness Expertise
  • Expertise in youth development principles, social and emotional learning, health and well-being, character and leadership development, academic success, life, college, and workforce readiness.
  • Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing teens and young adults.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and supportive environments for all youth.
  • Implement innovative programs, activities, and curricula that prepare youth for post-secondary success.
  • Take the initiative in researching youth development methods and research- and evidence-based programs to evolve our program quality continuously.

Operational Management
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple team members, programs, and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to deadlines.
  • Oversee daily operations of all teen programs and initiatives, ensuring effectiveness.
  • Oversee direct reports' student and program data management in the appropriate tracking systems.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data to continually develop goals to improve practices and programs.
  • Manage program resources, not exceeding budgeted expenses.

Partnership and Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain diverse partnerships that deepen impact and provide opportunities to students, including business, healthcare, education, nonprofit organizations, and other industries.
  • Serve as an advocate for youth programs and represent the organization in various forums.
  • Oversee student outreach and recruitment efforts, including marketing and promotional materials to recruit and retain youth and young adults.

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, relevant graduate degree strongly preferred
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working with high school-aged youth
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of management experience
  • Expertise in youth development principles and college and workforce readiness
  • Deep, personal commitment to helping low-income youth and young adults succeed in school and careers

Pay

The pay range for this role is $115K-$120K. Compensation will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, and market demands. The compensation range provided is subject to change and may be modified. BGCSV is growing, and a promotion is possible shortly based on employee success.

Salary Description
