ColumbiaDoctors' practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary:

The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for use in diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist will create and enhance diagnostic images, collect biologic specimens, and prepare data for interpretation by the physician. The incumbent will follow radiation safety guidelines and document radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the nuclear cardiac physician
  • Perform high quality dynamic, static, and gated SPECT and PET imaging procedures to obtain desired diagnostic patient information for imaging and referring physicians
  • Conduct daily operation of variety of SPECT and PET/CT cameras and computers to produce images of high diagnostic quality as observed by the nuclear cardiac physician and supervisor
  • Perform various radiopharmacy duties including receipt, preparation, administration and storage of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals
  • Obtains radionuclides by eluting generator systems or from bulk shipments maintaining sterile technique and shielding
  • Check radioactive materials for leakage and activity as observed by supervisor or radiation safety officer
  • Perform Quality Control procedures to ensure optimal performance of gamma cameras, computers and other related auxiliary equipment (dose calibrators, well counters, etc.)
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality control on all instrumentation including uniformity checks, linearity, center of rotation and other indicated tests to ensure all equipment is in proper working order as observed by supervisor or peers
  • Practice safe handling of radioactive materials to ensure minimal radiation exposure
  • Follow ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) guidelines for radiation exposure including use of syringe shields and lead carrying cases as observed by supervisor and peers and as evidenced by monthly film badge reports
  • Schedule patients for procedures in EPIC and tracks assigned patients' arrival and completion status as observed by supervisor
  • Other duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Graduation from an A.M.A. approved program in Nuclear Medicine required
  • Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine Nuclear Cardiac imaging NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required (may not be on any type of probation)
  • CPR Certification required
  • LICENSURE ARRT (N) or NMTCB required
  • Must have a basic knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear medicine equipment and nuclear cardiac imaging procedures
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, computer/electronic health record/PACS applications, good organizational skills, and outstanding patient care/communication/customer service skills
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $49.02 - $65.66

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
