Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with geospatial experience to join our dynamic team supporting mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with geospatial software, database engineering, and automating data workflows. You will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions that enhance the discovery, transformation, and delivery of geospatial data across enterprise systems. This position requires a proactive problem solver who can work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize ETL pipelines and geospatial data models for efficient processing and delivery
- Automate data disclosure and dissemination workflows to improve turnaround time and reduce manual overhead
- Build and maintain internal tools for database management, auditing, file parsing, querying, and distribution
- Develop custom applications for associating metadata with geospatial files to enhance data search and retrieval
- Conduct detailed analysis of legacy systems and software workflows, identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions
- Participate in code reviews, system documentation, and Agile team events
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Developer in a geospatial or technical environment
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
- Experience with geospatial tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or GDAL
- Strong SQL skills with Oracle
- Familiarity with Git, software development lifecycle, and Agile methodologies
- Experience designing and consuming APIs
- Strong team, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on DoD or Intelligence Community programs
- Familiarity with data governance and disclosure processes
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
- Understanding of metadata standards for geospatial data
