The Opportunity:
Your role will be a Senior level Firefighting Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing support to multiple US Navy/MSC programs. You will multi-task across concurrent fast paced design projects and validate designs for new construction, post-delivery, and future prototype systems on various naval and marine vessels including aircraft carriers, combatants, amphibious, submarines, auxiliary, and specialized mission ships from ship concept, design, construction, life cycle, and fleet support. This will include but is not limited to structural fireproofing/insulation, firefighting, fire detection, AFFF, High Expansion Foam, Halon, HFP (FM-200), CO2, Watermist, and seawater sprinkling cooling systems that are necessary to maintain a ship's functionality and mission. You will provide technical support on various engineering projects alone and as lead of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC). This position offers flexibility with options to perform client engagement and customer meetings, and management of CACI projects and programs at CACI sites, WNY, NSWCCD, NSWCPD, ship checks, and OEM/Industry site visits and the remainder of the time may be hybrid/teleworking offices needed from the Washington Navy Yard area or in a hybrid arrangement.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. $94,400 - $198,300

Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance throughout all design stages, from preliminary to post-production, for MSC or Navy vessel auxiliary systems.
- Conduct origin/cause fire investigations for major fire incidents aboard Navy vessels.
- Leverage lessons learned from past designs/casualties and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risks and enhance shipboard fire safety.
- Lead the creation of authoritative fire protection requirements, policies, ship specifications, standards, test procedures and Selected Record Drawings (SRDs) for customers.
- Design marine auxiliary and piping systems, reviewing and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation.
- Develop comprehensive risk assessments for fire-related hazards on vessels which identify potential risks, ship survivability, mitigation strategies, and provide safety enhancements.
- Contribute to specifications writing, design calculations, outfitting design, and marine drawing, adhering to drawing standards and best marine design practices.
- Provided technical assistance for customers ensuring rapid resolution of fire protection issues.
- Deliver technical supports for fire protection systems including but not limited to AFFF, High Expansion Foam, Halon, HFP (FM-200), CO2, Watermist, and seawater sprinkling.
- Ensuring new and existing Firefighting systems follow Navy and Commercial safety standards.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of commercial standards, including ABS, NVR, NAVSEA OP-4, USCG, IMO, NAVAIR, SOLAS, SNAME, CFR, ASTM, NVIC and NFPA.
- Build a team of experienced Fire Protection Engineers and Technical Personnel in support of all projects and programs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in US Naval Ship Engineering and Fire Protection experience.
- US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance
- BS Mechanical, Civil, Fire Protection or Marine Engineering degree or equivalent degree
- Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in a team environment
- Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards
- Experience with Military Sealift Command (MSC) and Navy marine engineering practices.
- AutoCAD experience: Ability to draft detailed multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, assemblies, and products.
- Experience briefing complex technical issues (including performance, cost, schedule and risk implications) to decision makers.

Desired:
- 20 years of experience leading NAVSEA or MSC engineering team projects
- Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
- Former Tech Warrant Holder for Navy/MSC
