This is an opportunity to join our mission to build tech solutions that empower to delight Amazon Retail customers. You will be responsible for building new system capabilities grounds up for strategic business initiatives. If you feel excited by the challenge of setting the course for large company wide initiatives, building and launching solutions in the Amazon Shopping ecosystem to bring conversational abilities to our customers. We are building systems which can scale across multiple marketplaces with technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence driving large scale simplification etc.
You will build core services, be part of a team that enables partner teams to join shopping conversations with the customer and experiment at scale. As SDE, you will build end to end infrastructure to help Amazon Retail engg teams to deliver their CX in the conversational layer with minimal human interventions. You will partner with other teams to deliver data generation and workflows to optimize Alexa Shopping customer experiences and build platform to deploy partner CX at scale.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring to market innovative products and services
Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry
Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed
Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use
Ability to design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems
Work in an agile environment to deliver high quality software
A day in the life
You will be collaborating with Applied Scientists, Product Managers and Engineers to develop enablers to scale Rufus to launch new features faster,
improve existing features and ensuring that no regression is introduced to the existing experiences it powers, and without being bottlenecked by core Rufus development and science teams.
You will be part of team driving standardization and collaboration, streamlining and risk reduction, and deeper optimizations across workflows that together are force multipliers for initiatives powered by Rufus.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
