JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor, Contractor Management Damage Prevention is responsible for leading a team towards completion of annual targets aligned with Hydro Ottawa's Strategic Direction while adhering to strict health and safety standards and is accountable for the hiring, performance management, development, coaching and mentoring of direct reports as well as building strong relationships and fostering collaboration with peers and stakeholders across the company. The Supervisor, Contractor Management Damage Prevention is also responsible for the administration and ongoing monitoring of contractor relations in support of the delivery of Hydro Ottawa's capital, operational, and maintenance programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize and implement work plans, coordinate field forces, oversee the execution of the work, and follow-up with review and feedback.
  • Continuously review and implement resource requirements by selecting qualified employees, ensuring appropriate training is provided, delegating tasks and assignments, defining goals, providing feedback on performance.
  • Ensure the quantity and quality of work progresses by adjusting schedules as required to deal with emergencies and other unforeseen problems.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and strict adherence to all health and safety standards and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure utilization of work orders for costing and charging purposes by keeping records of labour costs, equipment and material used and year of production.
  • Supervise responses to emergency calls including participating in the on-call roster.
  • Review processes to optimize efficiency, productivity, quality, accuracy and safety.
  • Recommend new or improved work methods and techniques and update documentation as required.
  • Assist with the development of annual budgets and ensure work is carried out within established budgets.
  • Support employees with technical studies and analysis/status reports.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to employees to assist in their development.
  • Participate and provide relevant information to external associations as an ambassador for Hydro Ottawa.
  • Provide technical support to developing, updating and approving standards for design and construction of distribution infrastructure.
  • Secure and maintain adequate levels of contractor resources in alignment with annual and multi-year workforce planning and contractor support strategy and in support of Capital and Maintenance programs delivery.
  • Assist with the creation of procurement documents such as statements of work for the purpose of attracting, evaluating and awarding contracts to service providers.
  • Lead the on-boarding of new contractors in collaboration with Health and Safety.
  • Develop and maintain contractor performance management system including productivity, cost, safety, delivery, contract compliance, and responsiveness considerations.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Asset Planning, Manager, Design, Manager, Scheduling and the Manager, Supply Chain to establish necessary contractual agreements in support of Capital and Maintenance programs.
  • Actively identify opportunities for cost containment through contractor assignment optimization and identification of potential revenue streams.
  • Provide advice to the Manager, Program Management and Business Performance on matters related to the long-term contractor strategy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary education and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field
  • Relevant experience combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements
  • Previous people leadership experience
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • English essential, both oral and written
  • OACETT certification or Professional Engineer considered an asset
  • Experience managing and working with contractors considered an asset
  • Project management experience considered an asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset


This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, the details of which the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.
