Job Summary:
The AI & Clinical Registry Solutions Lead works at the intersection of clinical quality knowledge, data science, and artificial intelligence. This individual works closely with Qualified Health's technology team and the CMO to lead the development and deployment of AI and machine learning tools that streamline and enhance healthcare registry processes, from data extraction and abstraction to validation and reporting. This role helps to create the technologies that can in turn power enterprise-wide initiatives to improve data quality, reduce manual burden, and accelerate clinical insights for quality improvement and compliance.

Job Summary:
The AI & Clinical Registry Solutions Lead works at the intersection of clinical quality knowledge, data science, and artificial intelligence. This individual works closely with Qualified Health's technology team and the CMO to lead the development and deployment of AI and machine learning tools that streamline and enhance healthcare registry processes, from data extraction and abstraction to validation and reporting. This role helps to create the technologies that can in turn power enterprise-wide initiatives to improve data quality, reduce manual burden, and accelerate clinical insights for quality improvement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute key quality registry knowledge to support the design, development, and implementation of AI and machine learning models to support automated data abstraction and registry completion for national and specialty-specific databases (e.g., NSQIP, STS, NCDR, NHSN).
- Work with current abstractors who understand clinical registry specifications to help define data fields, map existing workflows and support AI automation builds with QH technology team.
- Collaborate with clinical subject matter experts to ensure that AI solutions align with registry definitions, coding standards, and clinical context.
- Support the development of large language model algorithms that can extract relevant information from unstructured EHR documentation (e.g., progress notes, operative reports).
- Support customer success to deploy developed models into existing health systems, data warehouses, or analytics platforms.
- Monitor registry submission schedules and compliance requirements; ensure AI-assisted workflows align with regulatory standards.
- Stay current with advances in health AI, clinical informatics, and registry technology; recommend new tools and methods for innovation.
- Educate stakeholders on the capabilities and limitations of AI in registry operations and support a culture of responsible AI use.
- Education: Master's required and a clinical background (e.g., RN, MD, RHIA) is a strong plus.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience leading quality registries and regulatory reporting within health systems or similar organizations. Preferred experience with chart abstraction and clinical documentation.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with clinical quality registries both at the level of using them directly and overseeing abstraction teams
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and structured health data (e.g., FHIR, HL7, OMOP).
- Working knowledge of clinical ontologies (e.g., ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, CPT).
- Experience deploying models via APIs, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), or on-premise systems.
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts to clinical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent collaboration and project management abilities in cross-disciplinary teams.
- Use of AI and NLP tools within healthcare environments, especially those tied to clinical quality or regulatory reporting.
- Familiarity with national quality improvement programs and performance metrics.
- Hybrid or remote work supported, with potential travel for collaboration or conferences.
- Fast-paced, innovation-oriented environment with close collaboration between data, clinical, and IT teams.
