Bloomberg News is seeking an enterprising, scoop-driven reporter to cover the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the expanding intersection of geopolitics and international economic policy. This high-profile beat sits at the heart of the global economy and the sweeping shifts reshaping it.

We're looking for a journalist with a sharp eye for economic trends, the ability to build deep sourcing within global institutions, and a knack for turning complex policy developments into compelling stories. You'll work closely with colleagues across Bloomberg's global newsroom to break news and produce insightful enterprise pieces that connect policy, markets, economies, and geopolitics.

The ideal candidate is a clear communicator, a collaborative team player, and a strong writer with deep knowledge of international economics and the Bretton Woods institutions. The role will include regular travel to major global economic meetings.

We'll expect you to:
  • Break exclusive stories and deliver authoritative coverage of the IMF and World Bank
  • Build a strong network of sources across the Bretton Woods institutions, their shareholders and stakeholders from big philanthropies and NGOs to emerging markets investors and sovereign bond restructuring experts
  • Cover breaking news with speed, accuracy, and insight
  • Provide sharp, insightful reporting on how IMF and World Bank policies are affecting the global economy
  • Cover key events such as IMF/World Bank Spring and Fall Meetings and major developments in sovereign debt and crisis lending
  • Collaborate closely with teams across the Bloomberg newsroom, including economics, finance and bureaus around the world


You'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of journalism experience
  • Experience covering economics and/or finance
  • A strong understanding of economics and the roles of the World Bank and IMF
  • Deep sourcing or the ability to quickly build trusted relationships with key players across government and intelligence communities
  • A proven track record of breaking news and delivering high-impact enterprise stories
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to deliver fast, clear, and analytical copy under pressure
  • A collaborative mindset and experience working in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment


Salary Range = 115000 - 140000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
