Sompo has a unique opportunity for an AVP, Underwriting Support Manager on our Large Property Industry Practice Team.
As the AVP, Underwriting Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriting assistants, ensuring proper processes and workflows are in place, and delivering on our white glove service standards. You will also be responsible for meeting monthly premium bookings and working closely and effectively with various partners such as underwriting, CAT team, centralized support groups, claims, risk control, and more.

Salary Range: $100,000-$150,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.

What you'll be doing:
- Manage a team of underwriting assistants including hiring, training, mentoring, and managing performance
- Monitor metrics such as policy issuance and endorsement statistics to ensure the team maintains our service quality standards
- Establish workflows to reduce or eliminate manual processes and gain efficiencies
- Partner with underwriting managers to ensure underwriting assistant teams deliver effective and efficient support, aligning with operational goals and standards
- Collaborate with business unit leaders on diverse projects and initiatives to enhance efficiencies and support growth within the Large Property unit
- Assist in managing the processes for internal and external audits ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Support underwriting assistants with quotes, binders, and policy issuance workflows
- Continuously evaluate the teams' book sizes to ensure proper workload distribution, aiming to optimize performance and improve operational efficiencies
- Manage monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processes
What you'll bring:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Operations Manager in commercial insurance, preferably in property
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop innovative and effective solutions to complex challenges
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information and ideas across diverse audiences
- Expertise in planning and organizational skills to drive efficient execution and achieve successful outcomes in complex scenarios
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience
- Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Nitro PDF
