As a part of the AFT Space Cube team, you will work on developing and maintaining systems that make inventory placement and space allocation decission of Amazon's vast network of fulfillment and distribution centers. From optimizing inventory allocation and forecasting demand to ensuring optimal inbound and outbound processes, our team is at the forefront of solving complex challenges in the world of e-commerce.
You will work with a diverse group of engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions that enable Amazon's customers to receive their orders on time, every time.

Key job responsibilities
Design and Build highly scaled and efficient solutions using the latest AWS technologies and infrastructure.
Owning and Maintaining some of the most business critical systems for Amazon that support hundreds of thousands of associates and millions of customer orders per day as they travel through our Fulfillment Centers.
Work with partner teams including Product, Science, Operations and other Tech teams to understand problems, ensure solutions solve those problems and iterate once solutions are live. Use Data. We deep dive, analyze interpret and use data on a daily basis to understand problems and fine tune solutions.
More than just coding. Engineers are multi-talented at Amazon. You might work on front end, back end, data analysis, internal tools, etc. You are encouraged to explore and invent solutions that best fit the customer problems we solve.
Hire and Develop the Best. Deeply involved in the hiring process as well as onboarding and mentoring less experienced engineers. Also continuously learning and developing your own skills.
A day in the life
As an SDE in Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) Space Cube team, day-to-day you'll work on diverse and challenging tasks like designing new services, supporting AFT's large infrastructure, collaborating with your team members and cross-functional teams to create better capabilities in Amazon Fulfillment Centers. All the work you will do will ensure that Amazon customers receive their packages on time while all fulfillment processes are safe and compliant for Amazon associates and customers. Outbound Flow
AFT's Outbound Flow team pairs data science with innovative technologies to optimize throughput within every Amazon fulfillment center. We deliver smiles for Amazon customers with safe, sustainable, cost-effective, on-time package deliveries.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
