ECAD Design Drafter

General Function

• Participate in the design of complex, multilayer, mixed technology, high-density, high-power electronic Printed Wiring Boards (PWB) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA).
• Design and produce final drawings and data, including Schematics, Master Pattern, Bill Of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing data.
• Work independently or in conjunction with others, with work generally reviewed by a senior engineer.

Nature and Scope of Position

• Report to an Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with Electronic Packaging Engineering and Electrical Design Engineering specialists.
• Develop printed wiring board layouts and explore possible design approaches using established drawing knowledge and business design standards.
• Make design decisions with latitude, often reviewed by engineers.
• Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, features, and possible solutions.
• Communicate clearly with others to accomplish tasks and seek technical direction if needed.
• Manage and control printed wiring board design files in the company's CM system.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical major with a minimum of 10 years of proven design and drafting experience in Printed Wiring Board and/or Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) layout using Cadence Allegro or similar tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of good design and drafting practices, techniques, software, and tools.
• Advanced experience and knowledge in utilizing Ocad Schematic Entry and Cadence Allegro PWB.
• Self-starting instincts and effective communication skills for oral and written dealings with the engineering staff, customers, and vendors.

Accountabilities

• Translate requirements from various sources to generate Schematics, Netlists, PWB 3D/Solid models, layouts, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Ensure detailed integrity of Schematic, PWB layout, BOM, and manage PWB and CCA design requirements in conjunction with Engineering.
• Create and check detail drawings for completeness and accuracy, ensuring the parts list in the company's PLM (TeamCenter System) is accurate and complete.
• Suggest or specify materials for non-critical situations to conform to design.
• Represent the company in a manner consistent with its technical reputation.

Minimum Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in CAD or Engineering or Engineering technology with 10 years of proven design experience.
• Knowledge of PWB design, stack-up, materials, and PWB technology and processing.
• Experience in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal PWB layout and routing design.
• PWB layout design experience using Cadence Allegro tool suite.
