Description:
Plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise construction projects and/or project packages from start to finish. Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables, often in conjunction with other specialists. Interpret and explain contracts, requirements and technical information to other professionals. Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers and other construction specialists. .Monitor projects and report progress and budget matters. Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other problems with the project. Ensure that the project complies with legal requirements, such building and safety codes. Annual salary range $265,500-$270,40; hours are normally M-F 8am to 5pm.
Position Overview
The Terminal 5 (T5) Lead Construction Manager reports to the T5 Program Delivery Director and is ultimately responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities of the Design/Builder. The T5 Lead Construction Manager acts as the primary liaison for pre-construction and construction activities, including leading the safety, security and quality for the Program. The Terminal 5 Program covers the full demolition and rebuild of the Terminal 5 headhouse and concourse, as well as various enabling scopes to vacate the existing building. The characteristics of the candidate shall display a solid understanding and experience in alternative delivery (i.e. Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, etc.) of mega-projects within an active operating environment (aviation, transportation, retail, manufacturing, etc.). The ability to think outside the box to strategically guide construction planning and to quickly solve complex issues will be critical to the program's success. Transparent communication with many stakeholders is a key ingredient to an effective construction manager.
Position Description Summary
The T5 Lead Construction Manager is responsible for managing the scope, cost, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction related activities for the project. The T5 Lead Construction Manager will be focused on schedule certainty, budget delivery and making sure that construction work meets the required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on the project. The T5 Lead Construction Manager will ensure the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover plans, impacts to the operations, ensuring that risk mitigation for construction activities are optimized, working and coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring Client's standards are adhered to.

Senior-level Construction Manager with experience in an operating/active environment
Manages and collaborates with a team of junior construction managers, project engineers, field staff, inspectors, safety professionals, subject matter experts, and others as necessary to support the T5 Program.
Manages construction within budget and schedule constraints while maintaining all necessary scope elements
Leader in stakeholder engagement to identity, communicate, resolution and accomplishment their needs, while preserving the principles and criteria of the project scope, schedule and budget constraints
Expert in construction contracting practices and methodologies
Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
Essential Job Duties
Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with the completion of the project.
Apply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized for installation.
Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASR's) and all proper notifications are made
Become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected
Ensure all work is being performed with and inspected to the latest versions of plans and specifications, including approved changes, submittals and RFI's
Work with Design/Builder and stakeholders to develop the overall planning of construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities
Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule
Monitor the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet budget goals
Keep alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project
Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to attain required quality control at the maximum efficiency and minimum cost
Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients
Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies
Contribute to the advancement of TDG's goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Lead and/or participate in all necessary coordination meetings with the Design/Builder, trade partners, stakeholders, Client Operations, etc.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
Ability to work in CAD or REVIT preferred
Project-Specific Requirements/Notes
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
20 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects and large complex multi-year projects
Experience managing a team of construction managers
Experience with projects more than $500 million in value
Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering or other related field required
Master's degree preferred
Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional licensure and/or certifications

Client will provide a desktop computer that can be VPN'd into
Consultant MUST have a company-provided laptop computer. This is required for company business and to VPN into Client's system when away from the office as necessary

This is NOT a work from home position
This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all-in labor rate.
This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site
After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary
Transportation to/from Client worksite is the responsibility of the consultant
Must live within commute distance of client worksite in West Los Angeles
