The Strategic Sourcing Pharmacist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives for pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and related services. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical markets, contracting principles, financial analysis, and supply chain management, with specific oversight of drug shortages and formulary product selection. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with and lead cross-functional teams.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $58.34 /hr.- $73.74/hr.
The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.

Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management:
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for medications, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
Financial Analysis and Cost Containment:
- Conduct financial analysis to identify cost savings opportunities and optimize drug expenditure.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pharmaceutical procurement, drug shortages, and inventory management.
- Analyze pharmaceutical utilization data and identify trends to inform sourcing decisions.
- In cooperation with the Drug Policy Development (DPD) team, development of cost containment strategies, including formulary management, therapeutic interchange, and inventory optimization.
Inventory Management:
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to minimize waste and ensure adequate supply of pharmaceuticals.
- Collaborate with pharmacy operations to optimize inventory storage and distribution.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, clinicians, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), and internal stakeholders.
- Provide education and training to pharmacy staff on sourcing policies and procedures.
- Participate in DPD committee meetings.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to medication procurement and distribution and inventory management.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in pharmaceutical sourcing.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Education:Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree - Pharmacy. Preferred: PharmD and residency trained
- License and Certification: Required current state of Ohio Licensure as a Registered Pharmacist. Preferred: Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification for specialty area of practice
- Years of Experience:Minimum Required: 1 Year equivalent experience.
- Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities and solve problems; respond quickly to emergency requests; communicate effectively (orally and in writing), and assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization.
