The Registered Nurse specializing in Wound/Ostomy Care provides care to patients with complex wound and ostomy care needs. This role requires expertise in wound healing, patient education, and ostomy management, working closely with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with various wound and ostomy conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wound/Ostomy Care: Provide specialized wound care and ostomy management to patients, including assessment, treatment, and education.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on wound care, ostomy care, and prevention strategies to ensure effective at-home care post-discharge.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with other healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans for patients, addressing both medical and emotional needs.
- Assessment and Documentation: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, accurately document care, and monitor patient progress, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care and ostomy management, contributing to better patient outcomes and care standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in a clinical nursing setting.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Certification in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (CWOCN) or Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) is preferred.
