Primary Care Alberta (PCA) is currently seeking an experienced, influential individual to help the organization deliver on its promise to ensure high-quality, accessible, and sustainable primary health care services when and where people need it as the Executive Director, Planning and Alignment.You know what it takes to make a large, complex, multifaced organization work effectively. Bringing strategic planning and leadership skills, you can effectively create the networks and systems for effective service delivery. Politically astute, you build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders across PCA's scope of responsibility - internal and external, government, nonprofit organizations, and of course, clients and patients. Reporting to the Executive Lead, Planning and Quality, the Executive Director will be expected to advance work of the Planning and Alignment Department and to collaborate extensively with Alberta Health, other Provincial Health Agencies (PHAs), Primary Care Networks (PCNs), professional associations, and community-based organizations in improving access, coordination and improvement of primary health care services for Albertans. Description:
The Executive Director, Planning and Alignment, is responsible for leading the Planning and Alignment Department and fills a key leadership role within the Planning and Quality portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Lead, Planning and Quality, you will provide leadership and expertise, contributing to the strategic direction and organizational goals of PCA. You will develop core organizational planning and reporting documents, support implementation and evaluation of programs and initiatives, and provide risk management strategies within PCA in partnership with the provincial government and other PHA's, incorporating research, analytics, clinical and patient perspectives. As a key member of the Planning and Quality Portfolio, the Executive Director will be responsible for planning and supporting a broad range of engagement, strategic coordination and project management activities. You will lead a team that develops tools, templates, and resources to build capacity and competency in planning best practices across PCA. You will provide prudent management of fiscal and human resources, overseeing a budget of under $5M and up to 20 team members. In this role, you will develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders such as the Executive Directors, Foresight and Relations, and Applied Research, Evaluation and Innovation, Director Clinical Informatics and Digital Health and other Portfolio's within Primary Care Alberta to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a health sciences field, healthcare management, public policy or business administration plus appropriate license of other recognized designation. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive, diverse healthcare leadership experience in health care delivery or primary care delivery organization.Leadership experience in health system planning role or policy role.

Additional Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has possesses demonstrated leadership abilities, comfort with decision-making responsibilities, with proven ability to develop organization strategy and planning, including operationalizing strategic initiatives. The incumbent must have the ability to function in a complex environment, effectively managing competing priorities while maintaining integrity, demonstrating sound judgement and ethical conduct. Must bring innovation and creativity to problem solving and effective leadership. The successful candidate has excellent communication skills and can communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences. An influential person, this individual can foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations.

Preferred Qualifications:
A graduate degree in health care management, business administration or related field is preferred. Previous experience in a large, complex organization, particular healthcare leadership experience, is preferred. Canadian Health Executive certification from Canadian College of Health Leaders or equivalent certification is an asset.
