Back End Database Tester

Project Overview:

This role supports a high-impact initiative to migrate and digitize control processes related to SOX compliance, particularly within access management, user access, and database role reviews. The existing SOX Governance system is being decommissioned in favor of the new Controls Hub, which will manage the lifecycle of access control validations.

The candidate will play a critical role in validating the migration process, testing data accuracy, and developing automation frameworks to ensure that the mapping of controls from the legacy to new system is accurate and reliable before go-live.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the testing of control migrations from the legacy SOX Governance platform to Controls Hub.
• Develop automation scripts and testing frameworks (Python preferred) for data comparison and validation.
• Conduct backend database testing to verify data integrity, mappings, and migration logic.
• Analyze and understand the structure of both old and new systems and ensure consistency in the relationships between users, data, and access controls.
• Collaborate with engineering and control teams to validate 100-200 control mappings and automation workflows.
• Build automation to compare control outputs between legacy and new systems and ensure no data or logic discrepancies.
• Execute both manual and automated test cases and assist in the transition of manual controls to automated execution.
• Identify and document defects, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution before production deployment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of experience in QA/Testing roles with a focus on automation and backend testing.
• Strong SQL expertise with proven ability to write complex queries and analyze large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and understanding of relational database design.
• Strong foundation in data modeling and relational integrity.
• Experience building automation testing frameworks from scratch (preferably in Python).
• Prior experience in data migration testing, regression testing, or validation across two systems.
• Familiarity with SOX, compliance controls, or access management concepts is a strong plus.
• Ability to independently build, run, and maintain automated tests in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of governance or compliance systems (e.g., SOX, audit platforms).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Prior involvement in data-driven transformation or digitization projects.
