Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Corporate Counsel to join our team at Mobis Corporate Center America. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to the general counsel and be responsible for providing legal guidance across corporate governance, contracts, compliance, litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory matters. This role ensures that the company's business operations align with applicable laws, manages legal risks, and supports the legal needs of the Mobis' U.S. subsidiaries in the automotive parts industry, with a particular focus on labor-related issues and legal/compliance for the Mobis Savannah entity. The position requires deep expertise in corporate law, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance, particularly in the automotive manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

Corporate & Compliance
  • Provide legal advice on corporate governance, contracts and commercial transaction.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including supplier, customer, and joint venture contracts.
  • Oversee corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Support legal aspects of business operations, including intellectual property, employment law, and risk management.
  • Conduct legal due diligence and risk assessments for major business decisions.
  • Lead internal investigations related to corporate legal matters, ethics, and compliance.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the business and advise on necessary adaptations including compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations, including NTHSA, EPA, OSHA, and FTC.
  • Support and mentor junior legal team members and provide strategic direction to the legal department.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and training.
  • Oversee internal investigations related to compliance breaches and regulatory issues.


Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters.
  • Work with outside counsel on strategy and risk mitigation for law matters.
  • Handle pre-litigation matters, including cease-and-desist letters and settlement negotiations.
  • Oversee internal teams in managing claims related to product liability, employment, and contracts.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance related to the automotive industry, including labor, employment, safety, environmental and trade regulations.
  • Assist with government investigations and responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Monitor legal developments and assess potential business impact.
  • Support licensing, certifications, and regulatory filings.
  • Work with outside counsel on strategy and risk mitigation for law matters.
  • Handle pre-litigation matters, including cease-and-desist letters and settlement negotiations.
  • Support internal teams in managing claims related to product liability, employment, and contracts.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. Jurisdiction
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in corporate, compliance, litigation or regulatory laws as in-house counsel or law firms
  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance regulations and litigation processes, U.S. regulatory frameworks affecting the automotive industry (e.g., NHTSA, EPA, FTC, OSHA).
  • Excellent legal research, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple legal matters and work cross-functionally.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters, and execute proactively.
  • Ability to understand and embrace the company's core values, corporate goals, mission, and priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to advise executives and influence decision-making.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • U.S. state bar license required (active in good standing, GA license preferred.)
  • Compliance-related certifications (e.g., CCEP) preferred.


Working Conditions:
  • Office setting, some walking within and between buildings.
  • Occasional travel to business sites and external legal proceedings.
