We are looking for a Hydrogeologist to join the Iron Ore Company of Canada Hydrogeology Team, who is responsible for supporting the characterization and management of groundwater resources to ensure safe, efficient, and dry mining operations.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to engage in a variety of activities, including conducting surveys, planning drill programs, designing monitoring networks, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Reporting to the Superintendent, you will :
  • Conduct hydrogeological surveys
  • Plan investigative diamond drill hole and pilot well drill programs
  • Design the groundwater monitoring network
  • Conduct hydrogeologic investigations, including falling/rising/pump testing
  • Identify and characterize dewatering wells
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Support day-to-day mine operations with a focus on mine dewatering
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of hydrogeological data through QA/QC field verification
  • Help develop conceptual, numeric, and predictive hydrogeology models
  • Collaborate closely with Geotechnical Engineers, Mine Planning Engineers, Dewatering Personnel, and Pit Operations teams to design and implement water management strategies


This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out work roster of 2 weeks on site and 2 weeks off. If you are interested in relocating to Labrador City, relocation assistance is provided.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in hydrogeology or related field, including internships.
  • Proficiency in hydrogeological, GIS Software and proficiency in mining software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to work in both field and office settings, and willingness to work in adverse outdoor conditions.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently


Assets:

  • Familiarity with open pit mining operations and dewatering processes.
  • Experience with data management software and tools
