At Amazon Advertising, we are developing state-of-the-art large-scale computational advertising and real-time applications using terabytes of data. The Bidding Strategies and Pacing team develops algorithms and high performance, petabyte-scale distributed systems to optimize ad selection, bidding and campaign performance. Our systems process billions of ad impressions daily from across the internet to power our display advertising algorithms. Our engineers work with machine learning scientists, economists and product managers on high impact initiatives for Amazon's Display Advertising.
As an engineer on the team, you will design and develop products that are at the heart of advertising - products that determine how ads are matched real-time with billions of bids to meet advertisers' campaign objectives. You will have responsibility to help define requirements, create software designs, implement code to these specifications, define continuous integration testing and support products while deployed and used by our customers. You will have complete ownership of technology choices, architecture, A/B testing for your features, code deployments into production environment and operations for the products you own. Your team will include Applied scientists, product managers and other high performing engineers. We're looking for SDEs interested in developing real-time bid and optimization algorithms on large scale systems that process tens of billions of requests/ day using core technologies, Big data and Applied Science.
Key job responsibilities
You will have responsibility to help define requirements, create software designs, implement code to these specifications, define continuous integration testing and support products while deployed and used by our customers.
A day in the life
You will work closely with Applied Scientists, Data Scientists, Product Managers and high performing Software Engineers to simulate campaign optimization strategies with Big data and implement the strategies in large scale systems.
About the team
The team, which is a part of Amazon DSP, builds campaign optimization strategies to deliver campaigns and to meet or exceed their performance objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Cloud technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
