ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Logistics Engineer with a strong background in materials management to drive inventory control and internal logistics enhancements across multiple manufacturing sites. This role will involve traveling to different locations to assess, implement, and improve materials management processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory accuracy, warehouse optimization, and materials flow within a manufacturing environment. A key focus of this role will be ensuring inventory accuracy, cycle counting, internal logistics, and part presentation, while proactively identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies to maintain optimal material flow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel to various manufacturing sites to evaluate and enhance inventory control, internal logistics, and materials handling processes.
  • Develop and implement best practices for inventory accuracy, material flow, and cycle counting across all locations.
  • Work closely with plant managers and materials teams to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and develop strategic solutions to mitigate future issues.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, including warehouse layout planning, transportation management, and supplier collaboration.
  • Utilize data analytics and industry best practices to improve forecasting, demand planning, and procurement processes.
  • Standardize materials management procedures across sites to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to improve warehouse layout, materials presentation, and replenishment strategies.
  • Utilize ERP and WMS systems to analyze inventory data, optimize stock levels, and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Train and mentor on-site materials teams to strengthen internal logistics competencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, cycle counting efficiency, and material flow improvements.


Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in logistics engineering, materials management, or supply chain optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, cycle counting, materials planning, and internal logistics.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and warehouse management software.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and methodologies to drive supply chain improvements.
  • Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills with the ability to drive process improvements.
  • Hands-on experience in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple departments and with external partners.

Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in APICS (CPIM, CSCP), Six Sigma, or PMP.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or other high-volume industries.
  • Knowledge of global logistics and international trade compliance.
