Description
Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department is seeking to hire a Wildfire Partners Outreach Supervisor. Boulder County has been involved in wildfire mitigation since the 1989 Black Tiger Fire and has been recognized as a national leader in wildfire mitigation since the 1990s. Boulder County hired its first wildfire mitigation staff person in 1994. Since then, the Wildfire Mitigation Team has grown with noteworthy changes including the launching of Wildfire Partners in 2014 and the passage of a Wildfire Mitigation Sales Tax to fund mitigation programs in 2022.
The Outreach Supervisor is a senior, leadership position with significant programmatic and supervisory responsibilities. The Outreach Supervisor focuses on the most rewarding part of wildfire mitigation efforts-implementing programs and projects in the community. The Outreach Supervisor is a high-profile position and functions as one of the leading wildfire mitigation education and outreach professional in Colorado.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with some flexibility and occasional weekend events. This position has remote options and is based out of 2045 13th Street Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $87,948.00 - $107,322.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties
Leads Wildfire Partners Outreach and Education Team that includes the "Wildfire Happens Here" Public Awareness Campaign, Wildfire Partners outreach efforts, and wildfire mitigation educational programs. This team also leads Wildfire Partner's Community Mitigation Planning, Community Chipping, and Youth Services Programs Supervises the Wildfire Partners Outreach and Education Team. The team includes a Bilingual Outreach Specialist, a Chipping Coordinator, and a Youth Program Specialist Presents wildfire mitigation material (home hardening, defensible space, and community mitigation activities) to a variety of audiences (from elected officials to community members) in a wide variety of settings (from national conferences to kitchen tables) Develops, writes, and produces outreach and education technical resources including videos, factsheets, web content, and reports at the highest professional level Serves as a project manager: Develops scopes of work, hires and manages contractors, and ensures deadlines are met and deliverables meet expectations Leads the county's community mitigation programs, providing technical assistance to community members and groups working to reduce their wildfire risk. Reviews community mitigation applications, conducts community risk assessments, creates Advisory Reports, helps develop community action plans, and acts as the main point of contact for community mitigation liaisons Serves as a technical and advisory resource for other local governments and agency partners on wildfire mitigation efforts specific to the built environment Assist with all other Wildfire Partners programs, events and tasks as needed Performs related work, as required May be reassigned during emergency situations
