The company was founded in Bethesda, MD in 2013, to bring fresh, made-from-scratch organic breads, pastries, sweets, and croissant items inspired by bakeries in France to the DMV area. We have expanded to eight retail locations, two production bakeries, and a thriving wholesale business. We serve coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores with fresh products every day, 365 days a year.

Training and Development Manager

Location: 80% Travel across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, with 20% office-based in Rockville and Germantown, MD. This position does no offer remote opportunities. You will be in the field at our retail locations most of the time.

Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 per year

Fresh Baguette is a rapidly growing artisan bakery brand with 8 thriving retail locations and 10 more on the horizon over the next two years. We're known for our dedication to excellence in every croissant, bread, coffee, pastry, and sandwich we serve - and that excellence starts with our people.

We are seeking a Training and Development Manager to build and lead a dynamic training, coaching, and auditing program that ensures every member of our retail team has the skills, knowledge, and behaviors needed to consistently deliver exceptional customer service and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Strategy & Development

  • Design and implement a comprehensive training program for all bakery retail roles - including onboarding, skill development, product knowledge, customer service, and food safety.
  • Develop standardized training materials and tools that reflect Fresh Baguette's values, procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Leverage a mix of in-person, digital, and hands-on learning techniques to support diverse learning styles.


Coaching & Leadership Development

  • Mentor and support store managers and shift leaders in their role as frontline trainers and coaches.
  • Identify high-potential employees and support their growth into leadership roles.
  • Foster a learning culture across the organization.


Audit & Quality Assurance

  • Create and manage an internal audit system to regularly evaluate training implementation, operational standards, and customer experience.
  • Partner with operations leadership to address gaps and implement corrective action plans where needed.


Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and analyze training effectiveness using data, feedback, and store performance.
  • Continuously improve the training program to align with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Stay current on bakery operations trends, customer experience innovations, and training tools.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience designing and managing training programs in a retail, hospitality, or food service environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire and support frontline teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Hands-on, collaborative mindset - willing to roll up your sleeves and be present in our bakeries.
  • Passion for food quality, customer service, and brand excellence.
  • Proficiency in analyzing reports and using operational tools to identify trends and address challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and implement local business initiatives.
  • Commitment to Fresh Baguette's vision, core values, and exceptional customer service standards.
  • Experience in training and coaching teams for continuous improvement and achieving performance KPIs

Requirements

  • Open availability to work on Saturday and Sunday anytime
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Open availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, mornings, and afternoons
  • Availability to work on Holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July, etc.
  • Ability to perform heavy work such as lifting 50lbs+ and standing for 8hours+
  • Ability to drive to different retail locations across DMV
  • High School Diploma or GED
