Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President (VP) for our Data Service Layer Engineering team. The VP will be responsible for designing the solutions and implementing the data access management and data management framework across the Business Intelligence tools and Data Pipeline platforms. This role requires an experienced and dynamic Individual who can bridge technical expertise with business needs, ensuring our data solutions align with our future data strategy along with the evolving requirements of the business. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in data management framework, BI tools, data access management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in delivering high-quality data service layer solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Management Framework:
Develop and implement enterprise-wide data management frameworks across Pipeline and service layer products ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Collaborate with Data Stewards to Ensure the framework is aligned with Data governance principles, policies and standards.
2. BI Tool Expertise & Data Visualization:
Ensure the effective integration of BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, BusinessObjects) with backend data services to deliver actionable insights to the business.
Advise the business on the best practices for visualizing complex data and leveraging BI tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
Lead efforts to improve the user experience and functionality of the BI tools, optimizing reporting and dashboard performance.
3. Data Service Layer Solution Design:
Design and implement robust data service layer architectures to support business intelligence (BI) tools, including Tableau, Power BI, and BusinessObjects.
Provide technical leadership in the development of data solutions, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.
Collaborate with the data service layer delivery team to identify, design, and implement service-oriented solutions that cater to both internal and external stakeholders' needs.
4. Data Access Management & Security:
Provide expertise in data access management within the BI layer, ensuring robust governance and security protocols are in place for sensitive financial data.
Collaborate with the Chief Data Office (CDO), Other business lines (GFCD, GCIB) to implement data access and security policies that comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Maintain data privacy standards and ensure proper segregation of duties and user access management for data consumption.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
Act as a liaison between business lines and the data service layer engineering team, ensuring clear communication of business needs, technical constraints, and priorities.
Partner with business stakeholders and SMEs to translate business requirements into technical solutions, while providing actionable advice on data architecture and services.
Collaborate with the business analysts, and other key business units to align data service layer solutions with the strategic objectives of the organization.
6. Financial Domain Focus and Business Acumen:
Leverage extensive experience in the financial domain to tailor data solutions that address specific industry challenges, including compliance, risk management, and regulatory reporting.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in IT with strong Programming and BI tools background.
Extensive experience in the financial domain, with a strong understanding of financial data processes, governance, and compliance requirements.
Skills & Competencies:
Expert knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation including cloud platforms, programming languages, and modern software engineering practices.
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and HiveQL
Must have experience with AWS stack (S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR, HIVE), Apache Airflow, Kafka, Openshift
Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Denodo, Starburst
Expertise in business intelligence and data visualization tools, with solid hands-on experience in Tableau, Power BI, and/or BusinessObjects.
Strong knowledge of data architecture, data integration, ETL processes, and cloud data solutions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical teams and business leaders.
Deep understanding of data governance, compliance regulations and security practices in the context of Business Intelligence.
Understanding of the Financial Domain Specifically in the Risk and regulatory reporting area.
Strong Business acumen and adapt at transforming complex financial data into actionable insights.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies.
Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools.
Experience in AI/ML integration with BI solutions for predictive analytics.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Relevant certifications in AWS, Snowflake, Starburst or BI tools are a plus.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $139K - $168K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
