Purpose

The Manager of Business Analytics assumes ownership of the PowerBI rollout, champions its adoption, and ensures employees are empowered to independently create and utilize their own reports. This role is central in transforming our approach to data-driven decision-making and creating a self-sufficient culture of reporting across the business.

In addition to supporting the PowerBI implementation, this position supports broader goals, including ongoing training, continuous platform improvements, data governance, and fostering collaboration between IT, business, and analytics teams to maximize the value of our reporting tools.

Responsibilities

Business Intelligence Advancement
  • Leads the organization's adoption of PowerBI as the primary tool for reporting and business intelligence. Champions the platform's capabilities and demonstrate its value across departments.
  • Develops and delivers training programs, tutorials, and hands-on workshops to empower business users to create their own reports, dashboards, and visualizations, encouraging a culture of self-service analytics and data exploration.
  • Provides tailored coaching to individual teams and users, offering personalized guidance on how to leverage PowerBI to address specific reporting and analytical needs.
  • Creates and nurtures a community of PowerBI users, including developing internal user groups or forums for sharing tips, best practices, and templates.
  • In addition to PowerBI training, spearheads broader data literacy programs across the organization to ensure that employees at all levels understand how to interpret data and use it to drive decisions.

Reporting Tools Management & Support
  • Oversees the rollout of PowerBI and associated reporting tools, ensuring that they are properly configured, optimized, and aligned with business needs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with PowerBI, offering solutions that enable business users to leverage the tool efficiently. Collaborates with IT helpdesk as needed to develop support processes for internal users.
  • Ensures that the data used in PowerBI reports is accurate, reliable, and consistent by establishing clear data governance practice, working with data owners to ensure proper data management and integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Consultation
  • Collaborates closely with business leaders to understand their reporting needs and identify opportunities where PowerBI can provide impactful solutions, acting as a liaison between IT, operations, and business teams to ensure alignment on reporting goals.
  • Promotes the adoption of data-driven decision-making by providing guidance and ensuring that data insights are accessible to teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and automation within the reporting and business intelligence environment, making recommendations for enhanced reporting practices and evolving business intelligence strategies.

Ongoing Development & Innovation
  • Remains currentwith the latest PowerBI features, enhancements, and best practices, and advocates for the adoption of new tools and functionality that can improve reporting and analysis capabilities.
  • Evaluates emerging business intelligence tools and technologies that could complement or enhance PowerBI, ensuring the company remains on the cutting edge of data analytics.

Data & Analytics Strategy Support
  • Contributes to the development of the company's overall data and analytics strategy, aligning reporting goals with business objectives.
  • Supports the identification and development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that can be tracked and reported via PowerBI, ensuring that all levels of the organization are aligned on performance objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5)years of experience in IT, data analytics, or business intelligence, with at least two years of experience managing or implementing PowerBI solutions.
  • Demonstrated and comprehensive expertise in PowerBI (report creation, dashboard development, and DAX queries).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Experience with data governance and ensuring data quality and integrity across reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, able to problem-solve complex reporting challenges and offer practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill with a demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts, including within the development and delivery of training or workshops.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business leaders, technical teams, and end-users to deliver actionable insights, with the ability to influence and motivate others on new technology adoptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and project in a fast-paced and evolving environment, while responsive to deadlines and projects scope.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data manipulation languages.
  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik.)
  • Experience in a similar advocate or enablement role within a corporate setting.

Work Environment

This position operates in a home or professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
