Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn's Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community.
The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 34 Medical/Surgical beds, 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. Overview
The Pharmacy Director - Inpatient provides leadership, oversees, guides, directs, and manages all pharmacy programs, provides direction for pharmaceutical services and medication use for the facility and collaborates with peers across all levels of care to ensure optimal medication management. The director of pharmacy ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; and complies with applicable policies, procedures, and standards of the organization. They are accountable for the development, implementation, planning, and ongoing management of optimal pharmaceutical care provided throughout the facility and any affiliated outpatient locations.

What you will do
- Lead the development, implementation, and execution of the annual departmental strategic goals in collaboration with hospital administration, pharmacy leadership team, physicians, and other key stakeholders
- Work closely with all key stakeholders to identify and execute new and emerging approaches to enhancing pharmacy services
- Collaborate with pharmacy peers across the health system. Play an active role in the development of health system standardization of pharmaceutical services where applicable
- Lead financial planning and budgeting for the department in collaboration with hospital administrators, and other key stakeholders
- Ensures the cost-effectiveness of pharmacy service provisions and operations
- Ensure quality, safety, and patient experience performance expectations are met
- Promote the development and fostering of a strong collaborative pharmacy team. develops team member and drives positive employee satisfaction
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to provide safe and effective pharmacy services
- Organize pharmacy department functions through appropriate assignment of responsibilities, delegation of authority, and overall direction of workflow processes
- Ensures consistent compliance with organizational policies and procedures, applicable legislative, regulatory and/or accreditation standards relating to pharmaceuticals within the hospital and other affiliated locations
Qualifications
Education
- Doctoral Degree, Doctorate of Pharmacy (Required) or
- Bachelors Degree, Pharmacy (Required)
- Masters Degree, Masters Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health (Preferred)
Experience
- 3-4 years Hospital Pharmacy Experience (Required)
- 1 year Hospital Pharmacy Leadership Experience (Preferred)
- American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Postgraduate Year Two (ASHP PGY-2) or American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Postgraduate Year One (ASHP PGY-1) (Preferred)
- 1 year Health System Pharmacy & Leadership residency experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) within 60 Days(Required)
- Board Certification in Pharmacy Specialties (Preferred)
