Job Description
This MGA Program Business Claim Expert position operates within the claim unit which manages commercial insurance claims handled by third party administrators (TPAs). This claims professional must have extensive background in the insurance industry, which includes primary insurance claim handling experience. The ideal candidate will have a high level of technical claim handling ability related to Casualty and Professional Lines losses. The position is an integral part of SCOR's MGA Program team and requires not only claim expertise but the ability to deliver excellent customer service to stakeholders and clients both internal and external to SCOR. Claim Experts oversee TPA handled higher exposure/complicated claims; are expected to measure and drive a high level of TPA performance; ensure compliance with contractual and internal claim handling requirements; initiate regular contact with underwriters, actuaries and accounting staff; and can review and analyze overall loss portfolio trending and offer those insights to stakeholders. The position reports to the VP of MGA Program Business - Claims housed in Chicago. The person will operate in a team environment within SCOR to achieve shared business objectives. Some travel required.

Pay Range for roles performed IL: $117,000-$158,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. Responsibilities
- Actively manage and oversee Casualty and professional Lines program claims referred to the dedicated MGA claim unit.
- Manage all claims against SCOR on behalf of the dedicated claim unit in compliance with claim handling guidelines.
- Monitor the appropriate levels of loss escrow funding.
- Monitor the quality of work performed by TPAs adjusting losses for the MGA Program portfolio.
- Review and approve all TPA requests for reserve and settlement authority within their authority level and refer any that exceed it to management with recommendations for future handling.
- Review and approve all coverage advice prepared by TPAs on claims within their authority.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the quality assurance claims audit protocols for all MGA Program accounts.
- Facilitate at least annual claim audits on all active and inactive programs, provide written audit reports and present findings to senior claims and underwriting management.
- Ensure the timely completion of claims due diligence reviews as part of the approval process for any new TPA partner as required.
- Evaluate on an annual basis each TPA partner's performance and report findings to senior claims and underwriting management.
- Review, analyze and recommend updates as necessary to claims service agreements with TPAs or other outside vendors on MGA Program business, coordinating efforts with both SCOR Americas Legal Department and claims counsel.
- Partner with SCOR's Legal Department to insure all necessary regulatory and compliance reporting requirements are met by TPAs.
- Manage and coordinate all claims made against the Company.
- Participate in program and account review meetings with underwriting, actuarial, and other internal partners to assist in evaluating the profitability of MGA Program portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with SCOR's claims handling guidelines, escalating any service issues involving TPAs and MGAs to senior management.
- Participate in annual stewardship meetings with TPA partners to discuss performance, compliance, and claim handling enhancements to drive increased profitability, and greater collaboration and partnerships.
- Coordinate efforts with other SCOR entities also writing primary insurance business as required.
Qualifications
Experience/Education:
- College graduate preferred or equivalent experience
- Law degree and/or industry certification/designations a plus
- Proven high-level technical professional liability and casualty primary claim handling experience
Personal Competences:
- Must be able to work independently yet thrive within a team environment.
- Knowledge and proficiency of office management systems and procedures, including MS Office
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to handle a large volume of work.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
