OVERVIEW

An expanding commercial construction company is seeking a gritty and people-centered Senior Project Manager to impact the success of a full-time, temporary heavy civil construction project for a Fortune 500 client.
  • Location: Southern Hampton Roads Virginia Metro Area (100% on-site)
  • Salary: $150-175K (DOE) + benefits
  • Schedule: Mon - Fri (10-11 hour days); periodic weekend work may be needed


WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Full Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the heavy civil construction project, including full ownership of project's P&L
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Effectively lead and motivate the project team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Maintain the highest standards of workmanship, proactively identify and resolve quality issues, and consistently strive to exceed client expectations.
  • Client Relations & Intermediary: Serve as the primary point of contact, fostering strong client relationships by proactively addressing needs and ensuring satisfaction, while also acting as a confident and professional intermediary with the internal team, maintaining an agreeable demeanor and advocating for project interests.
  • Procurement, Subcontractor, and Vendor Management: Manage the procurement of necessary materials and equipment, accurately process pay requests, and oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
  • Schedule Management & Documentation: Develop, maintain, and proactively manage the project schedule, identifying and mitigating potential delays, while also maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation including progress reports and change orders.
  • Risk Management & Safety Compliance: Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation plans while ensuring strict adherence to all safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment for all personnel.


WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Heavy Civil Construction Experience: 10+ years of progressive project management experience specifically within the heavy civil construction industry, with a demonstrated success in managing complex projects including earthwork, utilities, roadways, bridges, and related infrastructure.
  • Drive for Excellence: A strong internal drive to consistently exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.
  • Strong Interpersonal & Communication Skills: A collaborative team player with track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicating effectively (written and verbal)
  • Financial Management Expertise: Strong understanding of project financials, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain meticulous records.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven ability to identify and resolve project challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Relevant Education or Experience: A relevant Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent extensive work experience in heavy civil construction project management.
  • Proficiency in Project Management Software (Preferred): Familiarity with industry-standard project management software and tools.
