Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington seeks an innovative, forward-thinking leader who shares our vision of helping Girl Scouts change the world as the Vice President of Community Engagement. We seek someone great at building partnerships to drive growth strategies and foster community connections while elevating awareness of and participation in Girl Scouts, particularly in underrepresented communities throughout our service area.

What You'll Do

As the Vice President of Community Engagement, you'll be responsible for recruiting new members into the organization through community building, adult engagement, and strategic partnerships. You'll participate in realizing the vision and strategic goals by working with the senior leadership team to establish and integrate the organization's growth strategies. As a key executive team member, you'll provide leadership and direction to volunteers and staff and ensure that state-of-the-art tools, systems, procedures, and processes are available and in place to serve the membership.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior leaders to shape the organization's business growth strategies to increase membership market share. Work cross-collaboratively with leadership team members on the organization's strategic vision, short- and long-term planning, and project work. Support assigned committees of the board of directors as needed.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to community engagement functions, including staff and volunteers, to support membership growth in alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing, goal-driven sales team focused on lead generation, conversion, and new member acquisition. Establish clear performance metrics and coaching strategies to drive results.
  • Design and implement scalable sales strategies that build a robust pipeline of prospective youth members and volunteers, utilizing CRM tools, market segmentation, and customer journey mapping to increase conversion rates.
  • Create innovative marketing strategies that drive membership growth in collaboration with the communications and marketing department.
  • Build and foster relationships with strategic community partners to increase access and visibility, particularly in communities of color. Participate in community meetings, speaking opportunities, and advocacy efforts to improve access.
  • Oversee budget development and monitoring in areas of responsibility. Lead efforts to ensure best practices are utilized and resources are leveraged and deployed effectively to accomplish the organization's goals. Manage and track ROI for growth campaigns.
  • Build and implement an operational discipline that supports executing the business strategy across functions. Hire, supervise, and work closely with staff in assigned reporting lines to establish dynamic project goals and ensure optimum performance levels in areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee the development of community partnerships and resources that will enhance Girl Scouting and the mission of Girls Scouts.
  • Use data and analytics for decision-making, measuring campaign effectiveness, and creating a structured experimentation and iteration culture to drive growth that also drives retention.
  • Ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are embraced and incorporated into the organization's work.
  • Ensure all membership operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations and laws as well as national and local guidelines.

  • Thirteen (13) years of related experience and education, including sales or membership recruitment experience and upper-management experience, including supervision of mid-level managers.
  • Preferred: Previous experience with and knowledge of Girl Scouts program goals and core business strategies.
  • Knowledge of and relationships in communities of color throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.
  • Demonstrated competency across various executive and managerial functions, including direct experience in strategic planning, budgeting, supervision, and marketing.
  • Marketing strategies.
  • Sales/membership recruitment strategies and best practices.
  • Coaching, training, and developing staff in sales/membership skills and strategies.

The Details
  • Compensation - Exempt/salaried, starting at $117,188 to $140,625 per year, depending on qualifications.
  • Benefits - Health, dental, and life insurance. We also provide a generous retirement plan with a 3.5% employer contribution, paid time off, and paid holidays. See more details on our website.
  • Hours -Full-time, business hours, with some flexibility. This role is expected to be actively engaged in the community, including attending events and meetings in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Location - This role is based out of our Portland service center and requires frequent travel, up to 50% of the time, to attend out-of-office events, meetings, conferences, networking, training, etc. May occasionally include overnight and long-distance travel. You must be an Oregon and Southwest Washington resident, ideally in the Portland Metro Area. Administrative job duties may be performed remotely if you meet our remote work requirements.
