Job Summary:

Evaluates and treats patients to promote, maintain and improve physical therapy treatment programs and protocols. Ensures clinical skills meet high standards through continual educational opportunities. Serves as technical specialist on daily tasks and cases. Regularly models/mentors and trains staff on technical skills.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in physical therapy or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Three years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Two years' experience in an acute care, acute therapy or outpatient setting: Preferred


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Physical Therapy licensure in state of practice: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Physical Therapist (PT): Required


Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required


Essential Functions:
  • Provides therapy interventions using appropriate treatment protocols and techniques. Establishes individualized care and discharge plans and ensures plans are communicated to appropriate parties.
  • Develops and implements appropriate individualized care plans, including manual therapeutic exercises, gait trainings, balances and other interventions.
  • Continually assesses and revises physical therapy care plans and collaborates with nursing on multidisciplinary care plans, as appropriate.
  • Educates and instructs patients, family members and other patient representatives about rehabilitative care and necessary activities to promote patient health, safety and independent living.
  • Accurately documents observations, interventions and evaluations pertaining to patient care management and provided services.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
