Description:
Case Managers provide care for patients in all acute care departments.
The RN Case Manager will most likely remain in the same area during their contract, pending new hires.
Typically, travelers are not required to float to multiple areas during their contract.
Patient ratios are one Case Manager to 16-20 patients.
The role requires experience in the progression of care and meeting with families to discuss plans of care.
Support on the unit includes Case Management Assistants, Lead Case Managers, Social Work Complex Psychosocial patient consultants, and Utilization Review Nurses.
The charting system used is EPIC, and knowledge of EPIC is required.
Orientation includes 1.5 weeks plus an EPIC class.
The schedule involves a weekend rotation of 2 weekends per 13-week assignment.
Typical staffing support during weekend shifts includes 3 RN Case Managers, 1 Social Worker, 1 Lead Case Manager, 1 Case Manager Assistant, and 1 Utilization Review Nurse.
The position is not on call, and holiday expectations include working 2 out of 4 major holidays.
Approval of time off is up to 7 days, but extensions are required for any full week off.
Employees cannot take time off during the annual special event in early August.
The scrub color is Navy Blue or Professional attire.
