Job Description
The Cloud Engineer/Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the company's cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Areas of responsibility include managing cloud services, administering Linux and Windows servers, networking, security, and supporting business-critical systems. This position provides advanced technical support to other Information Technology Department staff and plays a key role in the company's digital transformation initiatives.

Server Administration

The Cloud Engineer/Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the company's cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Areas of responsibility include managing cloud services, administering Linux and Windows servers, networking, security, and supporting business-critical systems. This position provides advanced technical support to other Information Technology Department staff and plays a key role in the company's digital transformation initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure on AWS and Azure
- Lead migration efforts from on-premises servers to cloud environments
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management
Server Administration
- Provision and maintain company Linux and Windows servers, both physical and virtual
- Administer application services including Apache, Sendmail, and MySQL
- Perform upgrades, patching, and maintenance on servers and server infrastructure equipment
- Monitor and maintain system performance and security logs
- Network Management
- Analyze, design, and develop the company's network infrastructure to maximize performance, availability, scalability, and reliability
- Implement and maintain routers, firewalls, and other security equipment to protect the company's computing resources and digital assets
- Configure and administer secure wireless networks at company locations
- Monitor performance and utilization of local and wide area networks
- Security Administration
- Configure, manage, and monitor email security filtering and routing
- Maintain secure systems with up-to-date protection measures
- Register and oversee Internet domain names for the company
- Oversee requests/renewals for security certificates used for encryption, authentication, and code-signing
- Business Continuity
- Create and manage electronic data backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Assist with the design and implementation of the IT business continuity plan
- Test disaster recovery procedures to ensure minimal interruption to critical business operations
- Develop and maintain documentation on infrastructure, systems, and procedures
- Technical Support
- Provide assistance to IT support personnel in analyzing and resolving infrastructure-related issues
- Act as a backup for IT Helpdesk personnel for both internal and external customers
- Troubleshoot high-level technical problems across cloud and on-premises systems
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with excellent learning abilities
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Knowledge of networking protocols, security best practices, and system administration
- Ability to multitask with strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Works well in a small, focused team environment with short lines of communication
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in system administration, cloud engineering, or similar roles
- Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, networking, or systems administration a plus
