About being our Civil Stormwater Design Engineer

Psomas is looking for a Civil Stormwater Design Engineer with a focus on stormwater management to join our growing Seattle team. You'll be part of a collaborative group working on a wide range of public infrastructure projects - from green stormwater infrastructure and LID retrofits to flood mitigation, fish passage, trail design, and roadway drainage improvements.

As a member of our Pacific Northwest team, you'll help deliver innovative, cost-effective stormwater solutions for our municipal clients. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, community focused projects while growing your technical skills alongside interdisciplinary professionals.

Responsibility Highlights for our Civil Stormwater Design Engineer
  • Provide modeling, analysis, design, and documentation of project compliance in accordance with local jurisdictions and governing Stormwater Manual requirements (such as Department of Ecology or King County Surface Water Design Manual)
  • Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
  • Support project managers and senior engineers on stormwater tasks for a variety of civil engineering projects
  • Coordinate with internal team members across disciplines (survey, environmental, planning, etc.)
  • Assist in QA/QC reviews of design documents
  • Support proposal development and occasional client meetings as your experience grows


Minimum Qualifications to be our Civil Stormwater Design Engineer
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience, with a focus in stormwater
  • Recent experience in Western Washington


Preferred Qualifications for our Civil Stormwater Design Engineer
  • Professional Engineering license in the state of Washington
  • Extensive experience with stormwater regulations, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure design
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MGSFlood and/or WWHM proficiency
  • Thorough knowledge of Ecology's Western and Eastern Stormwater Management Manuals as well as local agency adopted surface water manuals and addendums
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling including backwater analysis, HEC-RAS, and other equivalent software
  • Experience performing expedited review of surface water documents for site development projects for clients' required building permits and providing creative and efficient design solutions applicable to city/county/state drainage codes and client standards
  • Experience with scour analysis and countermeasure design

  • A competitive salary! The genuinely expected range for this position is $42 - $63/hour depending on experience.
    Compensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates
