We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual for this Scientist 2 position at Core Labs, Library Prep Core to help run day-to-day operations. Our ideal candidate will work cross functionally with the team and other groups within R&D, sharing and using their strong knowledge of molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing libraries and liquid handler automation.

The estimated base salary range for the Scientist 2 - Library Prep Core role based in the United States of America is: $73,400 - $110,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package. Position Responsibilities:
- Designs and performs experiments of varying complexity and across a broad array of techniques, foresees issues and works to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments, conceives of new ways to analyze the data and present it.
- Plan and execute internal requests and understand internal needs and expectations.
- Makes detailed technical observations and documents them in laboratory notebooks and confluence pages.
- Plans, conducts, summarizes, reports consistent conclusions, and generates recommendations for follow up experiments and may suggest alternate strategies
- Takes responsibility for training others, raising the consistency and quality of data collection of the team, establishes criteria and / or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality and productivity Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.
Position Requirements:
- Strong knowledge in molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in preparing manual high-throughput 96-plex sequencing libraries.
- Able to readily apply experiential knowledge to develop new or adapt existing
- technology and processes; mastering some relevant area
- Highly proficient, productive, effective in the lab and attention to detail.
- Ability to design complex experiments containing appropriate controls to
- anticipate potential problems; able to troubleshoot issues
- Able to draw sound conclusions from complex experiment data sets
- Strong knowledge of a breadth of standard methods used in the department
- Strong ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines with team members and internal customers
- Communicate effectively in various environments with different stakeholders; tailoring communications and presentations as necessary.

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with NGS workflows including bioinformatics data processing
- Experience with liquid handling automation (Hamilton, Beckman Coulter, Tecan, etc)
- Experience in a customer focused environment preferred
- Experience with Illumina sequencing platforms preferred
