MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation's largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our Milgard Windows and Doors Tacoma, WA location.
The Manufacturing Engineer will enhance our production system's quality and productivity while minimizing waste. This role involves designing improvements for tooling to boost production efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Observe operations through detailed steps or processes, collect and correlate data, and implement process improvements at the plant location.
- Experience in cost initiatives with the capability to complete Return on Investment (ROI) assessments.
- Collaborate with product development and production teams to determine optimal methods for new products, with a focus on continuously improving processes.
- Partner with the Continuous Improvement team to enhance the deployment, sustainability, and consistency of process improvements across various locations.
- Help develop automation to enhance safety, reduce defects, and boost productivity.
- Analyze workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data, including production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to optimize worker and equipment utilization.
- Recommend methods to improve efficiency while reducing waste. Conduct elemental breakdowns to assess efficiency opportunities, reorganize workflow, and relocate workstations to drive operational excellence.
- Approve Deviation Forms.
- Develop and implement standard work across all lines with appropriate audits to ensure consistent application.
- Assist with line balancing, automation, troubleshooting, and time studies.
- Facilitate and teach Continuous Improvement processes, design tools/fixtures, and time study skills.
- Update and maintain facility layout drawings.
- Participate in daily Gemba walks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong understanding and application of Continuous Improvement, Lean Methods, and Process Automation
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks other applicable computer skills.
- Ability to implement changes through location Operations teams without having direct management responsibility for these teams.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
