The Division of Juvenile Justice provides probation, detention and treatment services to Alaskan youth statewide. There are six (6) youth facilities and 15 probation offices across Alaska. The Division Director's Office provides statewide agency administrative support and management oversight for juvenile probation services and juvenile facilities as well as grant program management.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be responsible for program development, implementation, monitoring, technical assistance, and quality assurance for federal grants, statewide juvenile justice accountability programs and services designed to prevent or reduce delinquency and recidivism. You will serve as the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) liaison to the Alaska Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee (AJJAC), the authorized official for the Interstate Compact on Juveniles and manage other division initiatives as assigned. These responsibilities involve ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, internal policy and grant requirements, along with providing grantees, community partners and field staff with training and technical assistance to comply with these requirements.

You will work on the 7th floor of the Court Plaza Building on Main Street with an incredible view of downtown Juneau. Presently, DJJ is not a teleworking agency. The DJJ State Office team consists of 28 staff located across the state who are committed to supporting statewide efforts to improve services and implement evidence-based programs that strengthen juvenile and system outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.

"Typically gained by" means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
