Example of Duties
The Position

The College seeks a temporary, full-time, one-year contract, Kinesiology Faculty/Head Football Coach. The ideal candidate for the Kinesiology Faculty/Head Football Coach position will share the College's commitment to educating a diverse student population.

The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any position. 1. Teach all courses in Kinesiology Faculty/Head Football Coach in accordance with program and scheduling needs; Serve as Head Coach for the College's Football team.

2. Assist in the assessment, development, and revision of curriculum, including student learning outcomes, assessment processes, and program review;

3. Collaborate with other instructors to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success;

4. Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials, equipment and technology, and distance education (online teaching) that will enhance course offerings of the department;

5. Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies, technologies, and curricula and develop new instructional materials and techniques to meet the changing needs of students;

6. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours;

7. Serve as a member of division, department, and college committees;

8. Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs in a timely manner;

9. Teach a variety of courses, during the day, evening, or online at the Monterey campus, Marina Education Center and/or other designated locations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education

OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above

AND

Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy

OR

the

AND

a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and commitment to community college teaching, including experience meeting the needs of learners with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of skills and goals to enhance student success.
  • Experience working in cooperation with staff, colleagues, and students.
  • Experience in promoting student success and retention through advising and monitoring academic progress in cooperation with the counseling department.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet the needs of community college learners with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of skills and goals.
  • Head Football Coach experience at the high school, community college or university level.
  • Experience in teaching a variety of Kinesiology courses
  • Experience in recruiting student athletes consistent with California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) guidelines or that of another similar organization.
  • Experiencing in developing life skills and high behavioral and educational standards in students and athletes.
  • Experience in promoting Football in the community.
  • Familiarity with the California Community College Athletic Association Constitution and By laws governing CCCAA membership and competition.

    SALARY

    Initial salary placement is based on the current Full-Time Faculty Salary Schedule A. The starting salary range is $73,964.00 - $113,012.00 annually, and is based on verification of education and experience for column and step placement. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate may also earn an annual Doctoral stipend of $3,290 or an annual multiple Master's stipend of $2,332, if applicable.
